We started The Brand Edit because the internet's approach to product recommendations was broken. Search for "best running shoes" and you'll find pages filled with identical lists, barely disguised affiliate links, and reviews written by people who clearly never wore the shoes they're recommending.

We wanted something different. A publication that feels more like The Strategist or Wit & Delight than a coupon site. Where recommendations come from real experience, not keyword research. Where brands earn their place through quality, not affiliate commission rates.

How we test

We buy every product ourselves. No free samples. No brand partnerships that influence coverage. Every review, every guide, every comparison is based on weeks or months of real-world use. Our editors wear the shoes, sleep on the sheets, apply the skincare, and pack the bags.

How we make money

The Brand Edit earns a commission when you purchase through our links. This costs you nothing extra. Our editorial team operates independently from our business team. We don't know which brands pay higher commissions when we evaluate them. A higher commission rate has never changed a recommendation.

Our standards

We don't cover every brand that exists. To be featured on The Brand Edit, a brand needs transparent pricing, accessible customer support, a fair return policy, and a track record of at least two years in business. If a brand's quality drops, we update our review. If their customer experience collapses, we pull the recommendation.

Our loyalty is to readers, not brands. That's the only way this works.
